Abstract
1,204,041. Valves; fluids-pressure brakes; track brakes. BECORIT GRUBENAUSBAU G.m.b.H. 8 May, 1968 [11 May, 1967 (2); 13 March, 1968 (2)], No. 21665/68. Headings F2E, F2F and F2V. A pressure control valve comprises a valve member movable toward and away from a seat 21 between an inlet 15 and outlet 27, and having a piston 17 which is subject to the pressure in an inlet chamber 16 tending to close the valve. The inlet chamber communicates with the upstream side of the seat through an adjustable restrictor 18d, and the member is biased to open position by a spring 22. The valve will open on a predetermined fall in the inlet pressure. In a modification the restrictor is provided with a hand wheel (49) and comprises a cylindrical plug valve (48), Fig. 6 (not shown). Brake system.-The device is applied to the brake system of a train used in underground mining. The train may be of monorail suspension type, a brake vehicle of which carries brake shoes 30, 31 applied to the rail 28 by spring 40, 41 acting on hydraulic pistons 36, 37 which are normally pressurized by a pump 45 to hold the brakes off. The brakes may be applied by opening a release valve 47 either manually or on overspeed of the train. The present valve is installed at 13 and also acts as a release valve to apply the brakes fully and prevent drag of the shoes in the event that the pressure falls below a predetermined value. An alternative brake car running or horizontal opposed channel rails (4) Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), has similar brakes with shoes (9, 10) operating above and below the top flanges of the rails. The car includes guide wheels 5 running between the channels.
