Abstract

1,203,554. Fluid actuation of switches; cooling magnetrons. ALBISWERK ZURICH A.G. 9 April, 1969 [31 May, 1968], No. 18058/69. Headings H1D and H1N. A cooling system includes a duct 1 which conveys a cooling gas to a piece of equipment and the wall of the duct 1 is provided with an aperture 2 and a flap 3 is provided whereby aperture 2 can be closed in a gas-tight fashion from the interior of duct 1, and a lever system 4 is mounted rotatably in a support 7 for the transmission of the movement of flap 3 to the operating member of an on-off switch 5 controlling the piece of equipment. Lever system 4 comprises a lever arm 4a carrying flap 3 and an adjustable screen 10 limiting the amount of movement of flap 3 into duct 1 and a lever arm 4b carrying an adjustable screw 11 for operating microswitch 5, a counterweight 6 and being connected by tension spring 9 to an adjustable screw 8 in support 7 for adjusting the tension of spring 9 and hence the minimum permissible air pressure in the duct. The at-rest position of flap 3 with no air pressure in the duct is shown in dotted lines, an air current in duct 1 produces a suction effect at the open aperture 2 so that flap 3 is closed. The flap 3 opens when the air pressure has dropped to a predetermined extent. Instead of spring 9 a pressure or bonding screw could be provided. A more elaborate lever system may be provided by which flap 3 may be displaced parallel to itself. Flap 3 may be connected to duct 1 by means of a flexible sealing. It is stated that the cooling system may be for a magnetron.
