Abstract

1,203,459. Mixing apparatus. B. SILVER and S. J. SILVER. 4 Oct., 1967, No. 45082/67. Heading B1C. A device for immersion in a substance to be mixed or disintegrated comprises a motor 10 carrying a mixer head comprising a rotor (not depicted) and a stator 13 having an inlet 14 and outlets 15 with either of which is associated a valve adjustable during operation to control flow rate. As shown in Fig. 1 the valve comprises a shutter 16 pivoted at 17 and operable by a lever 18. In modifications it may be a disc (25, Fig. 2 not shown) liftable to close the inlet 14; a sleeve (28, Fig. 3 not shown) axially movable to close peripheral outlets; a sleeve rotatable to bring apertures therein wholly or partly into correspondence with the stator outlets (see Fig. 4, not shown) a disc vertically movable to close an outlet in the top of the stator, see Fig. 5 (not shown); or a perforated ring rotatable to bring apertures therein into correspondence with a ring of apertures in the top of the stator (see Fig. 6, not shown). The mixer may be built with the wall of the vessel as shown in Fig. 8.
