Abstract

1,203,442. PVC light stabilizers. ALBRIGHT & WILSON (MFG.) Ltd. 16 Feb., 1968 [16 Feb., 1967], No. 7561/67. Heading C3P. PVC containing a heat stabilizer contains as light stabilizer a metal dithiocarbamate of the formula in which each R is optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl, alkaryl or aryl of up to 16 carbons or one R may be hydrogen or the two R's together with the nitrogen form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring and M is a metal of valency n where n is 2 or 3, preferably nickel. The heat stabilizer may be a metal soap, tin compound or lead phthalate or basic carbonate. A phenolic or sulphur-containing antioxidant may be present and the composition may be rigid or plasticized with a phosphate or carboxylate ester plasticizer.
