Abstract

1,203,215. Hardening photographic silver halide emulsions. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Jan.12, 1968 [Oct.14, 1966], No.45959/66. Heading G2C. [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] Gelatine-silver halide photographic emulsion layers are hardened by incorporating 0À5-10%, based on the weight of gelatine in the composition, of a compound of general formula B<SP>+</SP>CH 2 CH 2 CO (ACO) m CH 2 CH 2 B<SP>+</SP> 2X<SP>-</SP> where X<SP>-</SP> is an acid anion, B<SP>+</SP> is a nitrogen, sulphur or phosphorus anium radical, m is 0 or 1, and A is a divalent linkage selected from (CR 2 ) 1 -10 per se, and (CR 2 ) 1-10 in which at least one CR 2 unit is replaced by -CR= CR-, -O-. -S-, or an arylene or cycloalkylene radical, R being H or an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms.
