Abstract

[Also in Divisions B3 and F2] A tubular steel pile comprises metal strip 1 of constant width having a plurality of parallel inclined ridges 4 on one surface thereof, the strip being wound helically and welded at adjacent edges to form a tube such that the ridges on the tube are external of the tube and extend in continuous straight lines parallel to the axis of the tube. The piles can be bent into a U-shape (see fig. 4) and used as sheet piling or they can be driven in juxtaposed relation (see fig. 5) and the ridges used as guide and welding means.
