Abstract

1,202,895. Aerodynamic valves. J.A.C. KENTFIELD. May 31, 1968 [March 1, 1967], No.9594/67. Heading G3H. [Also in Division F1] An aerodynamic valve device is provided with a by-pass which remains inactive during fluid flow in the "easy" direction, but which becomes the outlet when fluid flows into the device from the previous outlet and is prevented from flowing out of the previous inlet by the aerodynamics of the device. Arrows A show the 'easy' flow path between ports 2 and 3, whilst reverse flow from port 3 is directed to port 8 in direction B with no out flow at port 2. The Specification describes in detail many other arrangements of vanes and passages which produce a similar result. Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) illustrate the application of the invention to a pulse jet motor, a gas turbine and a combustion chamber for heating air for drying crops (See Group F1).
