Abstract

1,202,415. Rolled web dispensers. HARCRAFT Ltd. 5 Dec., 1968 [5 Dec., 1967], No. 55354/67. Heading A4G. A rolled web, e.g. paper towels, dispenser has roll 7, Fig. 7, supported in a top casing cover 4 hinged at 6 and the web entrained around a cover roller L Fig. 3, roller K, feed roll A and between feed roll and guide M hinged at J toward a dispense opening beneath hinged front plate 3 with a cutter at its lower edge. The end of roll A carries an eccentric roller C and an axially mounted cam D having a little lost motion taken up by spring SD, roller C normally locking into a notch at the top end of casing-pivoted crank E spring-loaded anti-clockwise at S.E and with casing- pivoted cam lever F spring-loaded at SF pressing down on the roller. On swinging plate 3 inwards a rubber 13, on the end of lever 12 hinged on plate 3 and spring-loaded at S12, presses on and rotates roll A clockwise to lift roller C out of its notch and allow spring SE to shift crank E anti-clockwise whereby lever F forces roller C down the inside of crank E and partly rotates roll A to project a portion of web W below plate 3, as in Fig S. The user now pulls the web and rotates roll A whereby roller C snaps over the lower end of crank E and then begins to lift lever F. Finally cam D acts on the lower end and as roller C repositions into its notch after one revolution, cam D snaps over the lower end due to its lost motion. To reload, cover 7 is hinged forwardly, Fig. 7, crank KA, NA swung upwards about pivot S carrying roller K away from roller L, and via cam roller N2 guide M is moved away from feed roll A whereby web from a new roll 7 is threaded through the dispenser. In another embodiment, a spring-loaded sliding plate replaces crank E and roll A is provided with a pawl and ratchet.
