Abstract

1,202,360. Tanker vehicles; hose reels. CHARLES ROBERTS & CO. Ltd. 9 Jan., 1968 [14 Dec., 1966], No. 55971/66. Heading B7B. [Also in Division B8] A motor tanker vehicle of the type having a tank 1 mounted behind and spaced from the driver's cab is provided with a hose-reel 2 mounted between the tank and the cab for rotation about an axis extending longitudinally of the vehicle, the reel mounting 3 providing conduit means to interconnect the tank with the hose. The mounting 3 preferably comprises an A-shaped frame, one leg 5 of which forms the conduit which communicates with one end of a hollow spindle 9 on which the reel rotates, the other end of the spindle being connected to the hose. The hose-reel is rotatable by means of an electric motor 19, the drive incorporating a clutch mechanism which is manually operable to disengage the drive when it is desired to effect manual rotation of the reel. The barrel 16 of the hose-reel is provided with a groove for the hose which is constrained to lie radially in one plane.
