Abstract
1,201,172. Coatings. VARIAN ASSOCIATES. 9 Nov., 1967 [21 Dec., 1966], No. 51,142/67. Heading B2E. [Also in Divisions H1 and C7] The adherence of a carbon layer to a metallic microwave-supporting structure in a microwave discharge tube (see Division H1) is improved by first forming on the metal surface a porous metal layer by sintering (see Division C7) - e.g. of copper, iron, or nickel. The microwave-supporting structure may itself be of copper.
