Abstract

1,199,052. Mowers. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. 30 May, 1967 [17 June, 1966], No. 24967/67. Heading A1F. The mower has a break-back mechanism which includes a parallelogram linkage. A framework 1 comprises two overlying beams 2 carrying a pair of lugs 8, to which a connecting rod 19 is pivotally attached at 20, and a further pair of lugs 7 to which the beam 11 is pivotally connected by upper and lower lugs 10 and vertical sleeve bearings turnable about pins 9. At the mower end the beam 11 is pivoted to upper and lower plates 14 as also is the rod 19 to form a parallelogram linkage with pivots 9, 12, 7, and 20. The rod 19 carries a retaining member 41 which is acted upon by a spring 48 to hold pin 49 in a recess 50 in an arm 51 which is turnable about pivot 20 and also connected to beam 11 by link 53 and upper lub 10. A predetermined force operating on the mowing elements lifts the pin 49, against its spring bias, from the recess 50 and allows pivoting movement of the linkage. The driving shafts 27 of the mowing elements 28 are driven by shafts extending through the hollow beams 11, 26. In modifications the mowing element comprises a reciprocating cutter bar or two cutter bars arranged stepwise transversely of the machine.
