Abstract

1,198,622. Trueing grinding wheels. COVENTRY GAUGE & TOOL CO. Ltd. 24 July, 1967 [6 May, 1966], No. 20018/66. Heading B3D. Each tool 4 for dressing or trueing a gear grinding wheel 1 is given a compound movement wherein one linear component of the movement is parallel to the normal to the slope of the required curve whilst the other linear component of the movement is at right-angles to the said normal. The required compound movement is imparted to the tool by means of slides 14, 15 which are mounted at right-angles to one another on a carrier 3 adjustable about an axis 6 to obtain the required setting in relation to the curvature of the wheel flank 2. The movement is imparted to the slides by means of cams (16, 17), Fig. 4 (not shown), and angularly adjustable sine bars (21, 25), the cams being driven by an hydraulically-operated rack (29) disposed on the axis (6).
