Abstract

1,198,497. Electro-photographic print marking of metal. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. Nov. 15, 1967 [Nov.15, 1966], No. 52035/67. Heading G2H. Metallic material e.g. Al or steel carrying an insulating layer e. g. a paint layer is print marked by applying to the insulating layer a coating containing an antistatic agent or by incorporating said agent in the insulating layer, forming a charged layer of photo-conductive powder thereover, imagewise-exposing and removing powder from exposed areas, for example, with an air knife. Specified antistatic agents are quaternary ammonium salts, alkaryl sulphonates, aliphatic sulphonates and stearyl-substituted benzotriazolyl sodium sulphonate. The photo-conductive powder may comprise zinc oxide, eosin, polymethyl methacrylate and methyl phenyl polysiloxane.
