Abstract

1,197,390. Curtain walls. PPG INDUSTRIES Inc. 20 Dec., 1968 [21 Dec., 1967], No. 60642/68. Heading E1W. An insulated division bar construction comprises a frame member, e.g. I-shaped in crosssection, carrying a panel-facing member 20, a panel-retaining member 21 disposed in opposed, spaced relation to said panel-facing member, connector means 17, 18, joining the facing and retaining members, insulating material 33 disposed between said connector means and said panel-facing member for insulating the facing and retaining members from each other and an anchor member affixed to said panel-facing member and the outside of a building. Such frame members are assembled to form an insulated curtain wall (figs. I and 2 not shown) with a panel edge 11 disposed between said panel-facing member and said panel-retaining member and with each horizontal frame member comprising a gutter flange (54 fig. 4 not shown) carried on said panel-facing member whereby moisture from between the facing and the retaining members may escape to the outermost surface via a space (79) provided between facing member (45) and a baffling member (71). The anchor member which is affixed to the vertical panelfacing member and the outside of a building is also described (figs. 5 and 6 not shown).
