Abstract

1,197,195. Handles. J. UNERMAN & SONS Ltd. 24 Feb., 1969 [8 Dec., 1967], No. 55905/67. Addition to 1,020,266. Heading A4U. [Also in Division E2] In a furniture handle as disclosed in Specification 1,020,266 in which a flap 17 pivoted in an open-fronted box-like casing 10 is moved by finger pressure applied above the pivot to project the lower part of the flap for engagement by the fingers, a rib 34 bears on a pusher 31 to move it rearwardly in a guide 32 and thereby move a spring-pressed latch member 23 to a retracted release position, the latch member sliding in a channel integral with the rear wall of the box-like casing and in a direction at right angles to the direction of movement of the pusher. A side 29 of a notch 28 in the latch member is formed as a ramp for co-operation with a cut-away corner 33 of the pusher 31 which has a peg 36 engaging a slot 37 to hold the latch member and pusher in operative engagement. A finger piece 27 is coupled to the latching member by a pin 26 working in a slot in the rear wall of the casing so that the latching member can be retracted from the inner side of the door.
