Abstract

1,196,952. Foundry sand composition. KAWASAKI JUKOGYO K.K. 21 June, 1967 [24 June, 1966], No. 28594/67. Heading C3N. Foundry sand is composed of silica sand and, by wt. based on wt. of sand: 7-13% cement; 2.0-4.5% molasses; 0.1-1.0% Ca(OH) 2 ; a small quantity of surfactant and boracic acid; and 3-6% moisture. The cement may be Portland cement ; alumina cement may also be present. The quantity of surfactant may be 0.001-0.5%, and of boracic acid, 0.01-0.05. The surfactant may be non-ionic.
