Abstract

1,196,700. Safety harness. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 20 Nov., 1968, No. 55010/68. Heading A3V. An anchorage for a lap and diagonal seat belt comprises a link 15 pivotally mounted at A to the roof rail 11 of a motor vehicle and movable between a horizontal stowed position and a vertical operative position where forward movement. is prevented. The link has a loop 16 at its lower end through which the diagonal belt 13 passes, and is spring biased to its stowed position. The belt is anchored to the vehicle floor or waist rail 12 by a fastening 17 which may be an intertia reel. The invention is particularly suited to vehicles having weak or steeply inclined door pillars.
