Abstract
1,196,639. Braking systems. ALFRED TEVES G.m.b.H. 6 Oct., 1967, No. 45813/67. Headings F2F and F2E. In a vehicle braking system comprising a hydrodynamic brake and a fluid operated service brake acting on the wheels, the pressure acting on the rear wheels is arranged to correspond to the difference between the front wheel braking pressure and that produced by the hydrodynamic braking. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the front wheel brakes 6 are actuated directly from master cylinder 9, and the rear wheel brakes 2 are actuated via an equalizing valve 15. The stator 1 of the hydrodynamic brake is mounted for rotation and bears against a transmitting cylinder 14 which also acts on the equalizing valve 15. The rear wheel brake pressure is the difference between the pressure from cylinder 9 and that from cylinder 14. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown) a tandem master cylinder (24) is employed, and the hydrodynamic brake pressure is applied in opposition to the piston (25) operating on the rear brakes.
