Abstract

1,195,136. Packaging crisp-type food products; tubular containers; laminated labels. PROCTER & GAMBLE CO. 10 July, 1968, No. 32920/68. Headings B8C, B8D and B8F. A package of crisp-type food products, e.g. potato crisps, which is impervious to water vapour and oxygen comprises at least one stack of uniformly sized and uniformly non-planar crisps 15 in a tubular container 10 having at least one open end which is (or are) closed by crimping on a plastics or metal cover 13 which may have a pull tab and a scoreline to define an opening strip. A second plastics cover 17 is used to reclose the package after opening. The package may be filled with an inert gas, nitrogen or carbon dioxide. The container walls 11 may be of tin-coated steel, polyethylene, polypropylene or a kraft board-aluminium foil-plastics laminate and a corrugated glassine sleeve 16 may be used to prevent undue buffeting of the crisps on the sidewalls. When of metal or plastics the sidewalls may be formed integrally with one of the covers 13. The container may have a printed label attached made from a laminate of kraft paper, adhesive and aluminium foil.
