Abstract

1,194,308. Core constructions. WAGNER ELECTRIC CORP. 19 March, 1969, No. 14346/69. Heading H2A. In a dynamo-electric machine stator comprising a stack of laminations 44 secured to a support 14, Fig. 1 (not shown), by bolts 88 passing through aperture 63 near the periphery of the laminations, the latter are welded together at points on the stator periphery a predetermined distance from the apertures, so that stiffened regions are formed between the welds 74 and the apertures to prevent deflection of the laminations when the bolts are tightened. The welds 74 are formed on one side face of protuberances 65 on the laminations, the distance between each weld and the corresponding aperture being between <1>/16 and <3>/16 of an inch. In a modification. Fig. 6 (not shown), the welded stack of laminations is impregnated with a varnish such as epoxy resin prior to insertion of the securing bolts. The machine is a squirrelcage rotor induction motor for use in a motorcompressor unit.
