1,194,187. Measuring fluid flow. FERRARIS DEVELOPMENT & ENG. CO. Ltd. Jan. 24, 1968 [Oct. 25, 1966], No. 47806/66. Heading G1R. In a fluid speed measuring device a long thin tapered flexible rod 10, of fibre glass resin bonded filament is held in a metal holder 12, fixed to a base plate 13 and held in a tube 14, and fixed to a plate 19, secured to a plate 18 parallelly separated from the plate 13 by fluid-filled distortable cylinders so forming part of a device for relaying movement of the plate 18 to a remote indicator and the arrangement is such that the rod 10 is tilted and bent by the fluid flow such that the ratio of distortion of the rod 10 at any speed to the force which would be exerted by the moving fluid at the same speed on a stationary body decreases as the speed of the fluid increases, is light weight open ended tube 24 Fig. 2 (not shown) may be attached to the rod 10 or an elongated body of revolution to prevent a decreasing area to the wind at high wind speeds.
