Abstract
119,378. Powell, C. L. Jan. 23, 1918. Presses, producing part of stroke of,hydraulically or by gravity.- In an arrangement for preventing the supply of pressure water to the main ram until it reaches the work, pressure water supplied through ports G, B acts on a piston K and causes a valve J to close the supply passage through a piston I. The main ram is advanced to the work by gravity or by an auxiliary ram, water being drawn in from a tank through ports L, M. When a predetermined pressure is attained in the auxiliary cylinder, a piston E moves a valve A to set the port B into communication with an exhaust port C, whereupon the piston I and valve J are raised by the pressure water supplied through a port H to close the port L and allow the pressure water to act on the main ram.
