Abstract

1,193,424. Bearings. GLACIER METAL CO. Ltd. 14 June, 1967 [16 June, 1966], No. 26866/66. Heading F2A. A bearing shell has in its inner surface a circumferentially extending oil groove 7, the base of the groove being cut away to form slots 3 through the shell spaced by lands 4, each land having a groove 8 in its outer surface. The total circumferential length of the slots 3 is at least half the circumferential length of the groove 7. In Fig. 3 (not shown) two spaced notches 10 are provided in the outer surface of each land. Oil is supplied by a passage (13, Fig. 3, not shown) in a housing to a slot.
