Abstract

1,192,409. Ventilators. BECKETT, LAYCOCK & WATKINSON Ltd. 15 July, 1968 [15 Dec., 1967], No. 57123/67. Heading F4V. A window for use in a road or rail vehicle comprises a toughened glass window pane, a portion of which is removed and replaced by a ventilator and frame, and the pane and frame in combination providing a continuous edge for securing in an outer frame of the window. As shown, a rectangular portion is cut from a horizontal or vertical edge of the window pane and a rib 61 of the ventilator frame 60 forms a continuation of that edge. The ventilator is formed by glass panes 63, 64 one or both of which are slidably mounted. In another embodiment, a corner portion of the window pane is cut away and replaced by a ventilator pane which is pivoted about a vertical axis. The ventilator may be as described in Specification 1,177,575 or 1,192,410.
