Abstract

1,192,403. Automatic yarn winding machines. SCHWEITER ENG. WORKS Ltd. 16 Aug. 1967 [17 Aug., 1966], No. 37781/67. Heading D1J. In a knotting device 13 for joining two yarn ends F1, F2 together, the knotting device comprises individual measuring cells 14, 15 in the paths of the two yarn ends, the measuring cells detecting changes in yarn dimensions or doubles and the like, and producing an output signal in response thereto; and an evaluation circuit for causing two yarn cutting knives, one for each yarn, to be operated should an evaluation circuit 16 connected to this measuring cells 14, 15 give a sufficient response. There may be a time delay means between the evaluation circuit 16 and the yarn cutting knives. The measuring cells may be capacitive or photoelectric. The apparatus includes a balloon breakers 5, a yarn brakes 6, grooved drums 7, wind-up bobbins 8, a hose 9 having a suction nozzle 10 for yarn end F1, and a gripper 11 for delivering yarn end F2 to suction nozzle 12.
