Abstract
1,191,824. Picolines. MONTECATINI EDISON S.p.A. 27 June, 1967 [1 July, 1966], No. 29667/67. Heading C2C. α-Picoline and γ-picoline are made by passing a gaseous mixture of acetaldehyde and/or paraldehyde and ammonia over a catalyst comprising a fluorinated SiO 2 , a fluorinated Al 2 O 3 or mixture thereof. Reaction temperature may be 400‹ C., reaction time 6 hours and by-products include pyridine and 2-methyl 5-ethyl-pyridine.
