Abstract

1,191,757. Sewing machines. SINGER CO. 12 Nov., 1968 [20 Nov., 1967], No. 53555/68. Heading D1G. In a sewing machine a feed dog 38 is reciprocated horizontally in a plane parallel to the machine bed and the work is lifted to allow the feed dog to make a return stroke without contact with the work by a platform having arms 53 which fit between the arms of the feed dog and also lie entirely below the sole plate of the presser foot. The feed dog is reciprocated by the feed advance rock shaft 20 and is guided by a block 32 acting in a yoke 33 and mounted on a feed lift rock shaft 21. The feed lift rock shaft 21 acts through an arm 24 to vertically reciprocate a link 46 which carries arms 53 on to which platform members 55, 55A or 55B can be positioned. The different platform members provide for different forms of stitching. A looper thread pull off 70 is provided which is operated by the reciprocating link 46 against a spring 74.
