Abstract

1,190,819. Laminates. FUJI SPINNING CO. Ltd., H. SATO, and K. WAKABAYASHI. 20 June, 1967 [1 March, 1967], No. 28444/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Division D1] A web or non-woven fabric comprises chromed collagen fibres obtained by a process comprising impregnating the chromed leather with water to loosen the collagen fibrous bundle, neutralizing the impregnated leather with dilute alkali, adding sulphate oil to the resultant semi-dried leather, and beating and opening the leather to form fine fibres with a mean diameter of 0À05 mm. and a length of less than 5 cm. The non- woven fabric is preferably laminated with at least one other web which may also comprise chromed collagen fibre or may be composed of natural and/or synthetic fibre, e.g. cotton, hemp, wool, nylon or polyethylene terephthalate. The web may be needle-punched to improve the entwining of the fibres, and the resultant fabric has improved hygroscopic characteristics.
