Abstract
1,190,005. Temperature-sensitive cables. GRAVINER (COLNBROOK) Ltd. 13 July, 1967 [20 July, 1966], No. 32559/66. Headings H1A and H1K. A temperature change detecting device comprises a conductor 10, a temperature sensitive, e.g. glass, filling 12, and a metal sheath 11 having one or more integral fins 13, which may have a mounting bracket 14. The sheath may be formed by two similar metal strips, each having a longitudinal central groove (20a) and a number of rectangular apertures (20b) joining the strips near the grooves, the strips being curved outwardly away from the sheath and being welded at their edges (20c) to produce an open frame of semi-circular (Fig. 2, not shown), or rectangular (Fig. 5, not shown), crosssection. In other arrangements, the sheath is made from a single strip (Fig. 6, not shown), the edges of two strips are spaced apart (Fig. 7, not shown), the fins are perpendicular to the sheath axis (Figs. 8, 9, not shown), or the sheath has a helical fin (Fig. 10, not shown).
