[Also in Divisions C5 and D1] A composition used in the treatment of textile yarns or fibres comprises a compound having the formula R 1 CH 2 -O-Y-R 2 and a compound having the formula in which R 1 is a straight or branched chain saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon residue containing 5-17 carbon atoms, R 2 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon residue containing 1 or 2 carbon atoms and Y is a polyglycol residue containing 3-16 alkylene oxide groups with 2 or 3 carbon atoms in the alkylene chain.
