Abstract

1,187,666. Transmission line couplers. JERROLD ELECTRONICS CORP. 25 July, 1967 [24 Aug., 1966], No. 34175/67. Heading H4R. [Also in Division H1] In a TV signal distribution system, two voltages, derived respectively from an inductive and a capacitative coupling to the coaxial line 1, 2 are added vectorially and applied to the tap line 3, 4. The two voltages are of equal magnitude and in phase for one direction of transmission, but in phase opposition for the other direction. A coil 6, wound upon a ferrite core 7, is inductively coupled to inner conductor 1 and is connected through a resistor 6 to the centre tap of an autotransformer 8 across which the second voltage is applied. The resistor 6 provides a matched termination for the line 3, 4. The coil 6 is installed by cutting away some of the outer conductor and dielectric of the line 1, 2 in such a manner that signal propagation is not interupted.
