Abstract

1,187,555. Electric couplings; terminal blocks. ITW Ltd. 20 March, 1969 [21 March, 1968], No. 13846/68. Heading H2E. An electrical terminal block comprises a preferably moulded nylon housing 10 having a channel 12 into which is slid a connector 28, preferably of sheet metal, comprising terminal tabs 30, 32, the housing having apertures 38 in its walls to locate nuts 42 in which bolts 44 for clamping a mains conductor 72 are received. The terminal block is mounted on an apertured base-plate through which are inserted clips 48, 50 comprising pegs 52 whose shoulders 56 abut the underside of the plate. The clips also have projections 54 which abut the upper side of the plate and which are mounted on rigid webs. The pegs 52 are mounted on flexible struts 60. The terminal block has projections (74, 76) at its ends which locate pegs (70) of a resilient plastics cover (Figs. 2, 6, not shown) having apertures (80, 82, 84) covered by thin webs which may be pierced by conductors. Two mains conductors at different potentials may be inserted in a terminal block (Figs. 7-9, not shown) having an insulative partition (86) forming two channels (12a, 12b) receiving two connectors (28a, 28b).
