Abstract

1,187,537. Electro-photographic and photographic apparatus. METEOR-SIEGEN APPARATEBAU PAUL SCHMECK G.m.b.H. Sept.13, 1968 [Sept.15, 1967], No.43686/68. Headings G2A and G2H. Single sheets 15 of photographic or xerographic copying material are transported by an endless conveyer belt 5 tensioned between drive 2 and reversal 1 rollers, an electrostatic charge sufficient to attract and retain in relative position the transported sheet to the belt being transmitted to the belt from a D. C. voltage source 8 by means of an electrode 7 extending transversely of the belt, and a load resistor 9 being connected between the D.C. voltage source and the electrode so that as the transfer resistance between the electrode and the closest point of earth potential falls and the current flow through the electrode increases, the voltage applied to the electrode falls. An earthed roller 3 urges a sheet to be transported on to the belt and is provided with a guiding bar 6. The provision of the load resistor minimises the risk of spark-overs during conditions of low transfer resistance, e.g. humid conditions.
