A clamp comprises a screw 22 which is freely slidable in a hole in one arm 14 of a C-shaped frame and a segmental nut member is pivotable on pin 26 in a recess in the arm into engagement with the screw to allow its rotation to clamping position, the deformation of the walls 30, 32 of the arm 14, during clamping binds the nut member to engage the screw. A spring urges the nut member into engagement with the screw, and the nut member is rotated out of engagement by pressing projection 138 thereon. The upper surface of the nut member and the lower surface of the wall 30 may have interengaging projections and recesses or be serrated or cross hatched or the nut member may have a pivoted latch.
