[Also in Divisions B2 and B5] A method of covering a chair &c. comprises heat-shrinking thereon a laminate comprising a layer of a fleece of partially drawn monofilaments of a thermoplastic polymeric material bonded together with a thermoplastic binder, and a layer of flexible plasticized or unplasticized thermoplastic orientable material. The laminate is rendered heat-shrinkable by heating till it softens, i.e. to a temperature of 110-140‹ C., deforming, and finally cooling. The laminate in sheet form is deformed by stretching in one or two perpendicular directions, or by vacuum forming, drape moulding or deep drawing. The laminate is then secured to the chair &c. in panels tacked &c. thereto, or as a forming. The chair &c. is then heated in an oven at about 110‹ C., the laminate shrinking and becoming taut, and is thereafter cooled. Alternatively, selected areas may be heated by a hot air gun. The thermoplastic orientable layer comprises, e.g., P.V.C., polypropylene, an acrylo-nitrile-butadienestyrene copolymer, or a mixture of the latter with P.V.C., and is prepared by calendering or casting. The fleece comprises monofilaments of e.g., nylon, polyethylene, terephthalate, or polypropylene, bonded together with an acrylonitrilebutadiene copolymer latex. The lamination of the fleece to, e.g., P.V.C. is effected by spreading a P.V.C. plastisol on to the fleece and curing, or by laminating together the two sheets with a P.V.C. plastisol adhesive.
