Abstract

1,186,457. Windscreen wipers. D. ARMAN. 17 Nov., 1967, No. 52506/67. Heading A4F A socket for attaching a windscreen wiper arm to its mounting or to a wiper blade comprises a body 16 of generally C section, having side walls 29 connected by a rear wall 16a, an end 18 adapted to be pivotally connected to a wiper arm or wiper arm mounting, and two pairs of flanges 26, 27 equally spaced from the rear wall 16a for supporting the end 10 of a wiper arm, and a spring 24 anchored at one end 24a in the body 16 and having an inclined projection 24d for engaging a recess 14 in the end 10, the free end 24 of the spring projecting out of the body 16 to facilitate bending of the spring to release the wiper arm. A pair of flanges 28 limits such bending of the spring. The end 24a of the spring is anchored between the rear wall 16a and folded flanges 22. In an alternative embodiment the spring is anchored by the engagement in lateral notches therein of flanges on the body 16; and in a further embodiment the spring has a folded end which is anchored between three pairs of flanges on the body 16.
