Abstract

1,186,265. Furniture frames. J. F. A. HUTCHINGS and M. HOCKTON. 29 Oct., 1968 [7 Aug., 1967], No. 36065/67. Heading A4H. A tapered nut 1 expands two wedges 2, to grip the inner wall of a tubular structural member and anchor a bolt therein (Fig. 1, not shown). The assembly 1, 2, with or without a plastic coated end plate 4, may be placed in a paper or plastic wrapper and flexible polyurethane 3 foamed therearound, to hold the parts together. Alternatively, the parts may be held with malleable wire. Four mutually perpendicular tubular members may be joined together, by means of a corner piece (Fig. 6, not shown). The tubular members may be of square or rectangular cross-section.
