Abstract

118,613. Smits, W. B. Aug. 29, 1917, [Convention date]. Heating by etectricity.-Resistance wire is mounted upon an insulating-support and immersed in oil or other liquid in an elastic casing. As shown, the insulator comprises a flat base 1 with slotted ribs 5 for receiving the wire and a stem 2 receiving the leads, and is enclosed in a metal diaphragm box with a handle 7; the box is filled with oil, heated to the highest permissible temperature, and sealed while hot. The oil circulates through passages in the insulator.
