In a stroke control device for an hydraulic pump, a piston-like member 2 is engageable with the stroke varying member I of a pump and is engaged by a piston 5 in a cylinder 14 formed in a spindle 7 and supplied with pressure liquid from a pipe 8 connectable to the pump outlet. The spindle 7 has a handwheel 6 and is in screw threaded engagement with a stop 18 which is prevented from rotation by a pin 19, the stop 18 limiting the maximum stroke by engagement with the member 2.
