1,185,569. Feeding material to pneumatic conveyers. FORDERTECHNIK FREITAL VEB. 16 Oct., 1968, No. 49050/68. Heading B8A. A bucket wheel charging valve for the delivery of granular material into a pneumatic pipeline 17, 18, comprises a plurality of resilient sealing elements detachably mounted along the radially or outer edge of each of a series of vanes, each element extending a different distance from the vane to form an inclined sealing surface for contact with the wheel housing 11, the vanes extending between circular end walls 5 provided with cooling air chambers 8. Compressed air from the pneumatic pipeline is fed for cooling purposes through apertures 19 in the housing 11, to an annular passage 10 and through apertures 9 into the chamber 8, whereafter it flows through bores 12 and annular chamber 13 in the housing 11 into the pockets of the wheel. The radially outer wall of the passage 13 is inclined to prevent air stagnation. A flexible seal 21 is provided between each side of the wheel and the housing 11.
