Abstract

1,184,606. Structure for supporting stored goods; racks. SPEEDRACK, Inc. 11 Oct., 1967, No. 46385/67. Headings A4B and A4H. A lattice structure for supporting barrels 80 on platforms for goods comprises vertical columns 12, horizontal beams 14 connected to the columns by locks (15) and wooden rails 17 extending from front to rear of the structure and connected to the columns by means of a hanger 42, Fig. 6, and bolts 40, 44. One end of each bolt is passed through a pair of aligned holes 34, 35 in the column 12 and the other end of each bolt is passed through holes 52 or 54 in the hanger and through holes in the abutting ends of two rails 17. A nut is screwed on to each end of each bolt. The ends of the rails rest on an inclined flange 50 on the lower edge of the hanger and the sides of the rails abut a top flange 48 on the hanger, the rails being thus tilted. The upper flange may be omitted and the lower flange may be perpendicular to the hanger. The lattice structure has short beams 82 supporting planks 84 forming a walkway for a workman. Rails (117) (Figs. 8, 9) may be clamped to opposite sides of a column (112) by two hangers and bolts (140, 144) with inclined ends.
