The contacts B, B<SP>1</SP> of a fuse base are shrouded by means of insulating members C, C<SP>1</SP> which may be hinged together (as shown), or joined by a flexible portion (D, Fig. 3, not shown), so that ready access can be had to the contacts B, B<SP>1</SP>. A flap in the flexible connecting portion (D) may be provided to permit access to earthing screw F.
