Abstract

1,181,655. Making studs. K. E. STANLEY. 15 Feb., 1967 [15 Feb., 1966], No. 6672/66. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F2] A stud comprises a shank 4 swaged from a metal sheet so that an annular portion 5 encircles the shank 4, the annular portion forming a head for the stud, being provided with holes 1, 2, 3 and being embedded in plastics material. The shank may be provided with an external or internal thread 6 and the holes 1, 2, 3 may be circular and formed in the portion 5 in concentric rings. The stud may be formed by stamping a disc from a metal sheet, cutting the holes 1, 2, 3 in the disc, swaging, in a plurality of operations, the shank 4 from the disc and then forming, if desired, the thread on the shank.
