Abstract

1,181,320. Inserting sliding clasp fasteners into garments. OPTI-HOLDING A.G. 9 Aug., 1968, No. 38057/68. Heading A3V. A process for the insertion of sliding clasp fasteners into garments, comprises applying an end portion 7 to the end of an endless strip of fastener stringers 3, 4, sewing at 5, 6 a required length of the stringers into a garment 1, cutting the stringers with a surplus length, passing a slider 13 on to the stringers, folding back the separated surplus lengths of the string- ers to form start portions 8 and finishing the start portions by completing the sewing to secure them to the stringers and the garment. The end portion 7, which is made of metal or plastics material, is applied to lock the free end of the cut strip at the same time as the required length is cut from the strip, preferably using a single tool, so that the entire steps of the process can be carried out in a rythmic cycle to each of a succession of garments. The feeding and cutting of the strip may be performed as described in Specification 1,181,319.
