A chimney, which extends from a boiler outlet socket 4 through a flooring 1 and roof structure 2, comprises a smoke flue 5 which is surrounded by a first or inner jacket 6, the space therebetween being filled with a suitable heat insulating material, such as burnt expanded clay, and a second jacket or outer jacket 7 spaced from said first jacket, the jackets 6 and 7 being composed of a number of stacked prefabricated elements 8 which are placed on top of each other and are closed by means of a cover 9, said jackets being so disposed that the assembled elements constitute a number of individual ventilation air ducts. The jackets 6, 7 are both of square cross-section, being turned an eighth of a revolution relative to one another, the corner of the jacket 6 being secured to the longitudinal side median line of the outer jacket (see Fig. 3), each element thus having a smoke flue and four ventilation ducts which are all separated from each other. The elements 8 are supported by a structure 10 which is placed on the flooring 1 and comprises T-irons 11 and bottom portion 12 which closes the space between the jackets 6 and 7, the inner jacket 6 extending from the structure 10 to the boiler outlet 4 with the aid of a section 13 which is insertable from below into the inner jacket 6. The cover 9 (see Fig. 6) includes an outer casing (20) which extends from the smoke flue to the outer jacket, parts (6a, 7a and 21).denning the top of the ventilation shafts, and an envelope 15 for sealing and taking up heat expansion movements between the smoke flue 5 and the cover 9. Angle irons (17, Fig. 7) are provided at the upper and lower end of each element 8, between the uppermost element and the cover 9 and between the bottom element and the portion 12 to provide a fixed connection between the said various parts of the chimney structure.
