Abstract

1,180,746. Spray lubricating apparatus. JACO ENG. DEVELOPMENTS CO. Ltd. 13 Feb., 1968 [6 Dec., 1966], No. 54512/66. Heading B2F. A spray lubricating apparatus for use in die forming operations comprises one or more fixed spraying heads each of which is provided with a guard visor movable between a position shielding the heads from spatter impingement caused by spatter from the dies and a second position in which the visors are clear of the heads to permit spraying. The visor is moved by air pressure wherein the same pressure is sufficient to spray the lubricant, the visor being gravity- or spring- returned to its shielding position. The apparatus is illustrated in Fig. 1 wherein a distribution block 10 is provided with a rotatable turret 11 having mounted thereon the nozzles 12, 13 such that by rotation of the turret any one nozzle may be brought into operation. The visor 55 is shown in its second (non- shielding) position. The block is mounted on a stem 17 which is provided with a laterally extending lever 24 coupling with to a reciprocating mechanism thus permitting angular movement of the block, turret and nozzles. A pressurised air supply (not shown) is supplied to the block 10 and simultaneously raises the visor and atomises the lubricant which is sprayed from the nozzle.
