Abstract

1,180,346. Substituted 2,4-dimethoxy-s-triazines. STICKSTOFFWERK PIESTERITZ VEB. 8 May, 1968, No. 21811/68. Heading C2C. 2,4 - Dimethoxy - s - triazines substituted in the 6-position by a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic, heterocyclic, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical are prepared by reacting at 15-150‹ C. a divalent metal salt of imino-bis-carbimic acid methyl ester and a halide of anhydride of a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic, heterocyclic, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic mono- or di-carboxylic acid. The di-basic acids yield bis-triazines linked at the 6-positions by a divalent radical. It is preferred to effect the reaction at 20-60‹ in the presence of a solvent, which may be an excess of the acid halide or anhydride, using the Cu or Zn salt of imino-biscarbimic acid methyl ester. Examples describe the preparation of the 6-methyl and 6-phenyl compounds from acetic anhydride or acetyl chloride and benzoyl chloride.
