Abstract

1,180,065. Valves. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 21 Aug., 1967 [20 Aug., 1966], No. 38445/67. Heading F2V. In a pressure relief valve, there is disposed, within an inlet pipe 1, a sleeve 2 having at one end an enlarged portion 2a which fits into a corresponding recess formed in the pipe 1 and at its other end a portion which projects beyond the limit of pipe 1 to serve as a valve seat which is engageable by a closure member 5. The sleeve 2 and closure member 5 are formed of impregnated graphite or of an impervious composite material of P.T.F.E. and graphite and the closure member is cemented on to a steel supporting member 4. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), the sleeve is of similar construction but the closure member is formed without the supporting member, the closure member and sleeve being made of the same materials as above.
