Abstract

1,179,501. Cutting foodstuffs. BLANCHLELY Ltd. 6 Jan., 1967 [14 Jan., 1966], No. 1008/67. Heading A4C. [Also in Divisions B7 and B8] A movable unloading floor mounted on wheels 39 adjustable in height at the discharge end has a discharge mechanism comprising drums 23, 24 provided with peripheral knives for cutting crop discharged between them, and control means dependant on the loading of the drums varying the speed of a scraper conveyer (7, 8, not shown) moving the crop over the floor to the drums. The drums 23, 24 have interfitting cutting edges on their periphery and are mounted for rotation in opposite directions on shafts 18, 25 between plates 16 which are pivoted by lugs on pin 21 and are urged to the position shown by springs 22. The drums are driven from an electric motor 45, or by the power take-off of a tractor through a gear box 50 which also drives a sprocket 63 which by a coupling rod 66 and arm 68 drives a housing 69 having a pawl drive to the scraper conveyer. If the load between the drums 23, 24 varies they will turn against the springs 22 and through an arm 12 or an arm 15 and set bolts 16 act on an arm 73 to move the housing 69 so that the effective stroke of the coupling rod 66 is altered to adjust the speed of the scraper conveyer. A plate 36 prevents accumulation of crop above the drums 23, 24. A modified speed control for the scraper conveyer employing a governor driven from the shaft 25 is described.
