1,179,461. Herbicides containing benzimidazoles. ELI LILLY & CO. 26 Jan., 1967 [26 Jan., 1966], No. 4030/67. Heading A5E. [Also in Division C2] A herbicidal composition in the form of a wettable powder, a liquid emulsion or a solid dispersion or a carrier, contains as active ingredient a 2-trifluoromethyl benzimidazole of the formula I: wherein X is a hydrogen atom and R is a CH 3 SO 2 - group at the 5-position, or X is a nitro group and R is a CF 3 - or CH 3 SO 2 - group at the 6-position.
